2010 Workshops

Raising the Bar in the Bay Area:

I have come together with some talented friends to offer a fun and exciting  series of workshops for 2010. Our mission is to raise the quality of beauty and art by sharing knowledge and our experiences.  I have vast qualifications at leading such a venture. I have have been employed in the High-Tech industry as a corporate trainer over the past ten years, developing curriculum and as a training leader. My style is unique. Over the years I have learned how to make learning fun and easy to retain. I’m very passionate about the subjects of photography.

I have a degree in Commercial Photography. My Photoshop qualifications: I use Photoshop everyday and have for over 10 years. I have developed curriculum and lead hands on training sessions for all experience levels. I am a long standing member of Photoshop Users International and regularly attend meetings of the Photoshop Users group at Adobe’s corporate headquarters in San Jose CA.

Lighting Like the Pros

Learn to “Light like the Pros” is our first series of five Workshops for 2010.

We will be featuring the seasoned NASA Photographer, John Schultz as, our guest speaker. John has more than thirty five years experience as a professional photographer and has encountered some of the most difficult lighting scenarios known to man. His technical expertise in lighting is renowned in the world of commercial and portrait photography. John will share his favorite lighting setups and answer your questions before leading you through a live photo session.

Dave has extensive experience in commercial beauty photography and has been using the Alien Bee’s Beauty Dish for more then 10 years. He will reveal to you his secrets of the Beauty Dish’s Feathered Light. He will dip into his bag of tricks and show you some of his favorite lighting scenarios, such as the dynamic two light shot pictured left. Dave will lead you through the afternoon live shooting session with our gorgeous models.

* Greetings/Introductions. – 8:30 am to 9:00 am.
* Shooting for consistency. Start out on the right foot with an introduction to balancing your shooting experience for consistent results. This will increase your shooting time and reduce the time required post processing in Photoshop or other 3rd party products.
* Lighting Basics. Throughout the day we will be utilizing the two proven basic lighting standards, Rembrandt and the Butterfly.
* Shooting with the Beauty Dish. Dave will lead you through the intricacies of the Alien Bee’s Beauty Dish.
* Post Processing for Speed & Accuracy. Using Lightroom 2 and Photoshop Camera Raw within Bridge you will learn the professional secrets required to spend less time behind the computer and more time in the studio.

Beauty, Glamour, Fashion Model Miriah	This is a Hands-on Workshop! Everyone attending will have multiple opportunities to shoot one on one with both of our beautiful glamour models. Introduction to Photoshop

This workshop is designed to accelerate your knowledge and skill-set in versions of Photoshop from 6.0 through CS4 and Photoshop Elements 4 &  5. I will teach you  all of the slick tricks to make the most of your time with a higher quality finished product. This is a full 8 hour day, hands-on, working workshop, not a group shoot. Attendance is limited to 6 and expected to sell out fast at only $250 per person.
